What Is Craftathon? Everything You Need to Know
Craftathon is a 36-hour in-person hackathon organized at Gandhinagar University, Gujarat, India. It brings together college students from across India to solve real-world problems across five technology biomes.
The Five Biomes
Craftathon is structured around five distinct technology biomes, each with its own set of problem statements:
- EdTech — Transforming education through technology. Build tools that improve learning, accessibility, or teaching workflows.
- DefenseTech — Innovations for national security and defense. Create solutions for surveillance, cybersecurity, or logistics.
- GreenTech — Sustainable solutions for a better planet. Tackle climate change, renewable energy, or waste management.
- SafetyTech — Technology that keeps people safe. Build for disaster response, road safety, or workplace security.
- HealthTech — Improving healthcare through innovation. Create tools for diagnostics, mental health, or patient care.
Who Can Participate?
Craftathon is open to all college students enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate programs. There are no restrictions on year of study — first-year students are welcome.
Team Requirements
- Team size: 2–4 members
- Solo participation: Not allowed
- Cross-college teams: Allowed

Event Format
The hackathon runs for 36 continuous hours:
